Backpack Ministry
At Tracy Church we have been called to address the issue of hunger in our community. In cooperation with Kingsford Heights Elementary school and J&B Super Market, Tracy provides weekend meals for children in need. Bags of food and vouchers for fresh items are sent home each weekend to those identified by the school and are enrolled in the program. This outreach is self-funded by Tracy Church and does not receive any governmental assistance. Those in the Tracy faith community provide menu items and monetary donations to support our mission to prevent hunger. Monetary gifts may be made to Tracy UMC with “backpack” in the memo line. Donations of food items are always welcome and may be delivered inside the front entryway after business hours.
In selecting items please keep in mind little ones will be carrying these bags home. Choose non-breakable packaging, check dates, and be aware of sizes. At this time we are assiting 9 local families.
